PIXEL NO.
How to play
One film poster a day, the same for everyone. It starts as a coarse colour grid. Tap Uncover to reveal 4% more, or press Auto and tap anywhere to pause. Type the film's title. Small typos are fine.
Every wrong guess costs 50 and gives you a hint about the answer: first its decade, then its genre, then its country.
Scoring
You start on 1,000. Your score is 1000 × (1 − share revealed), minus 50 for each clue you open and 50 for each wrong guess. It never goes below 0. Giving up scores 0.
Ranks
- 900+ Cinephile
- 600+ Film buff
- 300+ Casual viewer
- 100+ Background noise
- Below 100: Have you even seen a film?
Daily twists (optional)
Off by default. Turn them on in Settings. Most days are still classic. Some days the poster is greyscale or upside down, or only a 30% window of it shows. Everyone gets the same twist on the same day.
More ways to play
Archive: every past day is playable from Settings or the footer. Endless: past posters back to back in your own shuffled order. One miss ends the run, and your best run is kept on your device. Daily set: on days with three puzzles you get Easy, Medium and Hard, with a combined score to share. None of these affect your streak. Your stats live on your device.
When you finish today's puzzle, your score is added to an anonymous count so you can see the day's average (details).
Streaks
Solve today's puzzle (the first one, on set days) on consecutive days (UK time) to build a streak. If you miss one day, your monthly streak freeze covers it automatically.
The channel
Each puzzle is also a YouTube Short on the same day: YouTube channel.
